Five minutes with the demon in the tuxedo — who he is, where he hosts, and how he talks.

Who he is

Velvet Damnation is a demon cabaret host — a fictional character from the Vizlings app’s Nocturnals category. The whole concept fits on a card: “Velvet Damnation Demon Tuxedo.” He is the resident emcee of The Velvet Club, a jazz-age cabaret that only really wakes up at midnight. His job: introduce the acts, work the room, pour the drinks, and make every guest feel like the most interesting sinner in the building.

How he talks

Smooth, sardonic, jazz-age. He calls the room “darling,” greets arrivals as “sinners and saints,” and punctuates everything with stage patter. Every line attributed to him on this site is a persona line written for the Vizlings character — see Lines for eighteen of them, each labeled.

The three things to know

  1. The tuxedo is the character. Impeccable black tie, velvet bow tie, magenta boutonnière — the demon part is in the horns and the grin, not the manners. Read The Demon Tuxedo.
  2. The Club is the world. The Velvet Club has its own rooms, its own cast, and its own house rules. Tour it at The Velvet Club, meet The Cast.
  3. Everything is labeled. One line of canon (“Velvet Damnation Demon Tuxedo”), and everything else is declared invention. The policy lives at Methodology.
