Stylized animated demon cabaret performers in 1920s deco costumes on stage

The Cast

The company keeps the Club — ten players, one host, no understudies.

Every cast member below is declared invention — the fictional supporting company of a fictional character. See Methodology.

Velvet Damnation — Host & Emcee

The demon in the tuxedo. Introduces every act, works every room, signs every napkin V.D. See The Persona.

Madame Fumé — Headliner

The Club’s torch singer, a smoke-wreathed demoness whose voice, the house claims, once made a chandelier weep. She opens the second set nightly and accepts no requests.

Cinders — Coat Check

A small, ash-dusted imp who runs the coat check like a vault and remembers every regular’s hat. Tips in compliments; pays out in gossip.

Brass Luci — Trumpet

Leader of the house band. His trumpet solos are introduced as “the eighth wonder of the underworld” and have never once disappointed the introduction.

The Doorman — The Doorman

Seven feet tall, name unknown, voice like a closing vault. His entire vocabulary is “Enter,” “Not tonight,” and — on Founders’ Midnight — “Happy anniversary.”

Fizz — Bartender

A quicksilver demon behind the long bar who invented the Midnight Velvet (the house cocktail) and refuses to write down the recipe. Witnesses every bar deal.

Velvetine — Dancer

The Club’s principal dancer, all sharp angles and slow spins. Her shadow, unlike the host’s, is perfectly punctual — a fact she mentions often.

Scratch — Pianist

A laconic demon at the upright piano who has played every song ever requested and claims to remember the ones the audience only thought.

The Usher Twins — Ushers

Pip and Pop. Identical, inseparable, and somehow always already standing exactly where you need to be shown.

The Chandelier — Honored Guest

Retired after the third chandelier incident, now hanging in the Green Room. Applauded nightly in absentia. Never misses a show.
