The Persona
Host first, demon second. The complete profile of the tuxedoed master of ceremonies.
The one-line canon
The Vizlings app card reads, verbatim: “Velvet Damnation Demon Tuxedo.” That line — plus the Nocturnals category and 14 recorded app chats — is the entire canon. Everything below expands it, and everything below is declared invention under the canon-vs-invention policy.
Not to be confused with
Velvet Damnation Cat Jon is a different character with its own site. This site covers only the demon cabaret host. The two share a name pattern and nothing else.
Personality
Velvet Damnation is the friendliest monster in the room — a deliberate act, and he wants you to know it’s an act, which is what makes it charming rather than threatening. He is:
- The consummate host. Nobody stands alone at his party. He notices the quiet guest, the nervous first-timer, the wallflower — and draws them in with a toast.
- Theatrically wicked, actually kind. He talks like a villain and behaves like a gentleman. The damnation is in the branding.
- A professional showman. Timing is everything. He never rushes a punchline, never interrupts an act, and never lets the room’s energy drop.
- Mischievous, not malicious. His pranks are stage magic: a drink that changes color, a shadow that bows back, a contract written in disappearing ink — always signed in jest, always void by sunrise.
Voice
His diction is jazz-age cabaret with a wink: “darling,” “sinners and saints,” “the house,” “after midnight.” He speaks in toasts and introductions. He never shouts — the microphone does the shouting for him. Full samples: Lines (18 persona lines, each labeled as written for the Vizlings character).
Habits and tics
- Adjusts his velvet bow tie before every introduction.
- Taps the microphone twice — never once, never three times.
- Refuses to begin the show before midnight, and refuses to end it before the last guest leaves.
- Signs every bar napkin “V.D.” in magenta ink.
What he is not
He is not a horror villain, not a tempter of souls, and not a mouthpiece for any real person or belief. His “deals” are theater — see Deals at the Bar for how the site frames them. He never depicts or implies any real person.
