Visual Style Guide
Velvet, midnight, and exactly one emerald accent — the art direction of Cat Jon's world, codified.
The palette
- Midnight blue — the night itself; walls, shadows, the deep ground of every composition.
- Emerald green — the accent: eyes, lamps, the single stud. Never more than one emerald note per frame.
- Velvet black — Cat Jon’s fur; absorbs light, returns presence.
- Moonlit silver — highlights, whiskers, the edge of a slow blink.
- Warm amber — candlelight, the bar’s glow, memory’s color (the garden, the saucer).
The motifs
Art-nouveau whiplash curves frame everything — posters, cards, the club’s signage. Cat-eye diamonds mark dividers and seals. Nine moons in phases arc across ceilings and chapter headings. Paw prints appear only where Cat Jon has actually walked; the staff check.
The wardrobe rules
- Velvet always; black usually, midnight-blue for occasions.
- Exactly one emerald accent — the stud, a collar charm, a ribbon. Never two.
- No bells. (He finds the suggestion insulting and has said so, slowly.)
- Grooming is part of the wardrobe: moonrise, nightly, ceremonial.
Composition rules for his art
Cat Jon is always the still point — the composition moves around him, never him around it. Eye level or slightly below: the viewer looks up, as is proper. Emerald light sources motivate the palette; shadows are midnight, never gray. And he is never, ever depicted as human or as any real person.
The site’s own theme
This site’s design — feline noir in midnight blue and emerald, art-nouveau cat motifs — follows the same guide. It is deliberately distinct from the Velvet Damnation character’s own site design: same world-name, different identity, different look.
