Missions Archive
Every recorded StarTeam operation under Venn — the complete fictional after-action file.
Fiction note: every operation below is invented. The three signature missions are summarized on Missions; this archive adds the rest of the record.
Operation Ashen Wake (YC 230)
The StarTeam’s first operation: a freighter convoy ambushed by raiders in the Ashen Belt. Venn’s solution — the first Meridian Screen — put the flagship between the raiders and the convoy while Kael’s wing flanked. Result: convoy saved, raiders scattered, and the team’s reputation made in a single afternoon.
The Thessaly Relay (YC 230)
A communications relay failure threatened to blind the inner Reach. Dray plotted a manual jump solution through an uncharted lane — the maneuver that got him recruited — and the team restored the relay with hours to spare. The lore’s quiet mission: no enemies, no glory, just competence.
Operation Hollow Lantern (YC 231)
A hostage extraction from a smuggler station in the outer lanes. Voss led the breach; Venn negotiated the release simultaneously — the lore’s example of the team’s two-speed doctrine: force and talk, at once.
The Sable Nebula rescue (YC 231)
Seventeen ships, one stellar flare, zero losses. The signature mission; see Missions.
The Karthos standoff (YC 232)
One ship between two fleets; a war ended without a shot. The signature mission; see Missions.
Operation First Light (YC 233)
First contact with the Verdant Expanse; the treaty that still holds. The signature mission; see Missions.
The Vey Signal (YC 234)
A deep-dark transmission — the first recorded trace of the Vey. The team investigated, found nothing conclusive, and filed the report that the lore leaves deliberately open. Unresolved is stamped on the file, in the lore’s telling, in Venn’s own hand.
The Meridian Refit (YC 234)
Not a mission but an operation of another kind: Bolt’s total overhaul of the flagship’s drives, completed in nine days against a regulation estimate of nine weeks. The lore includes it because the crew does: it is the mission where the ship became theirs.
Standing patrols (ongoing)
Between named operations, the StarTeam runs the Reach’s hardest patrol routes — the lanes the regular fleet avoids. The lore counts these as the team’s real work: unglamorous, unending, and the reason the named missions succeed. Venn’s phrase for it (fictional dialogue): “Legends are just patrols someone wrote down.”
Reading the archive
The archive’s pattern is the Venn signature restated nine ways: arrive first, decide at speed, protect the withdrawal, bring everyone home. The unresolved Vey file is the archive’s honest edge — the lore admits what it doesn’t know. See Methodology.
