The words of the legend — every term from the Guardian's world, defined.
All terms are fictional, from the StarTeam universe invented for this fan reference.
Aegis
The Guardian’s shield — a tall oval of obsidian metal bossed with the golden StarTeam sigil, ringed with Oath-runes. Eleven reforgings across the cycles; each breaking is recorded in the Star-Vault.
The Aegis Hall
The StarTeam’s council chamber, built around a round obsidian table ringed by the shields of the team’s founders. The Guardian stands at its head — never sits — when the team gathers.
The Bastion
The Guardian’s personal starship: an obsidian-hulled vessel with emerald thrusters, built around one principle — it is not the fastest ship in the fleet, but it always arrives. Named for the beacon tower of the First Vigil.
Beacon-Keepers
Keepers of the beacons lit in settlements the Guardian has shielded. They send word to the Aegis Hall each cycle; the Guardian answers every message.
Cycles of the Pact
The in-world calendar: one cycle is roughly a standard year. The Guardian’s service spans three thousand cycles.
The Drowning of Vell
The mining-world disaster of cycle 47, where the Guardian — still a Warden — held a surge-dome over a magma-flooded shaft while four thousand miners escaped.
The Emberfall
The meteorfall of cycle 150: eleven days of debris over New Meridian, eleven days under the Guardian’s dome. Zero casualties.
The Emerald Surge
The Guardian’s signature power — a tide of emerald energy channeled through the Aegis to form barriers, walls, waves, and lanterns.
The First Vigil
The eleven-day stand at the beacon tower of Meridian Hollow (cycle 40) that began the legend.
The Glass Flats
The battle of cycle 98 where the first Aegis was shattered by the Shatterer’s champion.
The Hollow Gate
The pass where the Guardian dueled the Shatterer’s champion for nine hours in cycle 512, holding the line until the Pact’s fleets formed.
The Long Night of Karth
The cycle-340 evacuation of three hundred civilians under a single shield.
Meridian-7
The tactical ship-mind of the Bastion; keeper of the Guardian’s mission log.
The Oath of the Aegis
The Guardian’s vow — “No ground I guard shall fall. No ward I keep shall die alone. While I stand, the StarTeam stands.” — bound as gold runes into the sentinel’s armor.
The Obsidian Wardens
The old order of sworn sentinels, disbanded in cycle 141. The Guardian is the last living Warden.
Old Staric
The ancient language of the Oath-runes — the script of the First Vigil, now read only by the Guardian and the Star-Vault’s archivists.
The Pact
The alliance of star systems that the StarTeam serves; its council commissioned the team and, once, disbanded the Wardens.
The Reforgings
The eleven times the Aegis has been broken and remade, each from the fragments of the last. The team counts them like other teams count victories.
The Rooted Stance
The Guardian’s signature shield art: plant the Aegis and become, functionally, immovable. Never broken by force in recorded lore.
The Shatterer
The recurring enemy of the StarTeam universe — a war fleet that has returned three times across the cycles, each time met at the line by the Guardian.
The Shatterer’s champion
The Guardian’s personal rival: the Shatterer fleet’s greatest warrior, duelist of the Hollow Gate and the Glass Flats, the mirror of everything the Oath stands against.
The Silent Beacon
The cycle-211 mission: the Guardian crossed the Shatterer blockade alone to relight Outpost Venn’s dead distress beacon.
The Star-Team
The combined force of heroes from every system of the Pact. The Guardian is its oldest member and its living wall.
The Star-Vault
The sealed reliquary beneath the Aegis Hall, holding the relics of the fallen Wardens — eleven broken shields, the Oath scroll, the first beacon lamp. The Guardian is its keeper.
Surge-dome
A hemispheric barrier of Emerald Surge energy; the Guardian’s most-used form. A settlement-sized dome is the recorded maximum.
Training Circles
The Guardian’s training program for StarTeam recruits: shield-stance before everything else. Its first lesson: “Stand before you strike.”
