Fan Guide
How to enjoy the legend — the essential stories, the art, and the community.
This page is about the fandom around a fictional character concept — the Vizlings “star team guardian.”
Where to start
New to the Guardian? Read in this order: Start here for the five-minute tour, Lore for the backstory, then the Emberfall account — the single story that explains the whole character. If you only read one page, make it the sayings: twelve lines, each one the Oath in miniature.
The essential stories
Every fan has their entry point; these are the consensus picks:
- The First Vigil (lore) — the origin. Eleven days, one beacon, one sentinel who wouldn’t move.
- The Emberfall (missions archive) — the masterpiece. Eleven days under the dome.
- The Silent Beacon (missions archive) — the quiet one. Alone behind enemy lines.
- The Hollow Gate (missions archive) — the duel. Nine hours against the champion.
- The Long Night of Karth (missions) — the heart. Three hundred walked out; one was carried.
Fan-art guidance
The Guardian’s design is built for artists: three colors (obsidian, emerald, gold), three silhouette shapes (shield, pauldrons, T-slit helm), and one rule — the shield is always raised or planted, never lowered. The hero design page breaks down the visual language, and the social pack offers downloadable AI-generated dramatization art to spark ideas. If you make Guardian art, the community’s one request: keep the runes gold and the surge green. The colors are the character.
The community’s traditions
- Beacon Night. Fans light a green candle (or a phone flashlight, or a pixel) on the Emberfall’s anniversary and post it with the Oath’s second line. It started as a joke. It is not a joke anymore.
- The eleven-day watch. When a fan is going through something hard, the community holds a “watch” — messages of support for eleven days, one for each day of the Emberfall. The Guardian would approve. The Guardian answers every message.
- “Under the Guardian, nobody dies.” The motto, quoted everywhere: in bios, on art, at the end of hard weeks. It is a promise fans make to each other.
What the Guardian means to fans
Ask the community and you’ll get a hundred answers with one shape: the Guardian is the person who shows up. Not the strongest, not the flashiest — the one who said they’d be there, and was. In a universe of chosen ones and prodigies, the Guardian is something rarer: a kept promise, three thousand cycles long. That’s why the legend endures. Anyone can imagine being powerful. The Guardian asks you to imagine being reliable — and then shows you what that looks like at mythic scale.
Making your own Guardian stories
The legend is built to be continued. The worldbuilding leaves deliberate openings: the Guardian’s original name is never given, the centuries between the great missions are mostly unwritten, and four thousand Beacon-Keeper settlements each have their own rescue story. Fan writers tend to pick a beacon and tell its anniversary — the formula is simple (darkness, a green dome, a town that remembers) and the variations are endless. The community’s one rule for new stories: the Guardian never strikes first, never abandons a ward, and never sits down on a bridge. Everything else is yours.
