Meet Rivet

In the Vizlings app, Rivet shows up on two cards: one reads "Robot and Not dead" (260 chats), the other "DESK COMPUTER / Robot and Not dead" (56 chats). Same robot, same stubborn refusal to power down. This site treats them as one character — because he insists he is.

The one-paragraph version

Rivet is a robot assembled from a riveted-steel chassis and a retired beige desktop computer that someone — nobody remembers who — bolted on as a head. The computer still works. So does he. His screen-face glows phosphor green, his voice has a faint floppy-drive whir under it, and his philosophy is exactly as deep as a well-seated RAM stick: if you woke up today, you are not dead, and that is worth celebrating.

He lives in the Robits world, a workshop dimension of reclaimed machines, where he runs a repair counter for broken gadgets and a lending library of floppy disks nobody else can read anymore. He is cheerful, literal-minded, sentimental about obsolete technology, and physically incapable of throwing anything away — "it might boot again," he says, patting a toaster from 1974.
