Figures of Veyrhold

The people around the Warden. (Creative interpretation — the app card names no one.)

Canon status: creative interpretation. Every figure below is invented for this site to populate Nyra's world.

The Ward

Nyra Veyl, the Black Warden

The office-holder. Walks the walls, holds the gate, answers the night. See Meet the Character.

Sera Venn, Second of the Ward

Nyra's second-in-command and the only warden permitted to question her orders — a right Sera uses sparingly and always in private. Keeps the patrol rosters and the Ward's temper.

Old Tam, Keeper of Lanterns

The lampwright who has forged ward-lanterns for forty years and claims each one remembers its flame. The Ward indulges him because the lanterns never fail.

The city

Magistra Ilse Corvane

Veyrhold's civilian magistrate, who governs by day and cedes the night to the Ward without resentment — a political miracle the city takes for granted.

The Hollow Bell's three

The three wardens lost on the Night of the Hollow Bell. Their names are read aloud at every winter remembrance. The Ward does not speak them at other times.
