Coral Splash swimming along a winding path of glowing bubbles through different reef scenes

Coral Splash's story arcs in fan-chronological order. Every entry is fan fiction — dates are given in "reef reckoning" for flavor, not fact.

The arcs

Hatching Day (the beginning)

Coral Splash hatches in the Coral Court nursery on the first morning of the Coral Bloom. First act: a perfect bubble ring. The nursery staff marks her file "lively."

The Nursery Years

Communal raising among the coral bowers. She learns to swim before she can roar, founds the first hatchling bubble choir, and floods the kelp classroom "to make it more fun." Brine the turtle becomes her coach and long-suffering mentor.

The Runaway Bubble

At the Festival of Tides, her over-enthusiastic Bubble Blessing produces a whale-shark-sized bubble that lifts the festival anchor stone and pops in glittering foam. The crowd declares it the best festival ending ever. The Splash Blessing becomes tradition.

The Whirlpool Races

Old enough to race, Coral Splash enters the Whirlpool Rings circuit — and loses her first three races badly. Training montage with Brine follows (see Training). She invents the Splash Spiral and starts winning. Her rivalry with the eel Grump begins here: he insists racing is undignified. He attends every race.

The Sunken Galleon summer

She and her friends claim the old shipwreck as a clubhouse, map its holds, befriend its resident crab colony, and — legend says — lift its anchor stone with a single giant bubble. (The anchor stone's current location is a matter of reef debate; see Fan Theories.)

Song of the Deep

A storm season batters the Shallows. Coral Splash, still young, hums reef-song through the worst night — and the reef hums back. The storm breaks kinder than forecast. The elders start calling her "little tide-keeper," half teasing, half serious.

The Coral Court Festival

Now a reef celebrity, Coral Splash headlines the grand festival: races by day, the Splash Blessing at dusk, reef-song at night. Grump the eel is caught smiling. He denies it to this day.

Open water (the present)

Current fan stories have her ranging wider — greeting migration caravans, mapping the Twilight Slope, and planning (the reef holds its breath) a bubble big enough to be seen from the surface.
