Fan Theories

The reef's favorite unanswered questions about Coral Splash — fan theories, ranked from "plausible" to "the Tidewraith started this one."

The theories

The pearl-shell egg

Why was Coral Splash's egg pearl-shelled when other sea-dragon eggs are leathery? Theory: a Heartpearl fragment fused with her shell in the nursery current. Evidence: she learned reef-song suspiciously fast. Counter-evidence: she's just talented and the reef loves a mystery.

Grump is her uncle

The reef's oldest gossip: Grump the eel's protectiveness, his attendance at every race, the sketch he keeps. Theory: he's family. Grump's response, on record: "I am no one's uncle." The reef notes he said it while polishing the sketch.

The Tidewraith is a fan

Theory: the current-spirit doesn't prank Coral Splash out of malice but admiration — it only targets interesting people. Evidence: it has never once pranked anyone boring. (No one boring has volunteered to test this.)

The anchor stone moved

The festival anchor stone's original location is disputed; three elders give three different spots. Theory: Coral Splash's bubble didn't just lift it — it relocated it, and she knows where it was. She grins when asked. That's the whole evidence. It's enough.

Marina will return

The dolphin racer promised a rematch "when the currents are feeling dramatic." Theory: she's already in the Shallows, scouting. Evidence: a suspiciously fast dorsal fin spotted near the Twilight Slope. The reef is watching the water.

The surface bubble

Coral Splash's stated ambition: a bubble big enough to be seen from the surface. Theory: she's already done it, and some sailor's "sea monster" sighting was just her showing off. The reef considers this proven. Sailors have not been consulted.
