Methodology

How this site was made — and the honesty rules it follows.

What this site is

This is a fan reference for a fictional character: Mara Kest, a StarTeam heroine from the Vizlings app concept. It was built by expanding the app’s character card — “A poised and courageous Starteam heroine dedicated to...” (quoted verbatim on the home page) — into a consistent fictional world: backstory, chronology, powers, crew, missions, and universe.

The standing honesty rules

  1. Fiction is labeled as fiction, everywhere. Every content page carries a plain notice that its lore is invented. There is no page on this site where a reader could mistake invention for reality.
  2. No fake quotations. The Sayings page collects Mara’s signature lines, and every line is flagged as fictional character dialogue written for this reference — never presented as real quotes from a real person.
  3. No fake history. Dates use the invented Concord Cycle calendar; the Timeline and Lore pages state outright that all events are fictional.
  4. No real people depicted. All characters are invented. All images are AI-generated dramatization art, labeled as such in captions and in the image credits on this page. No image depicts a real person.
  5. Uncertainty is stated. Where the fan lore is deliberately open (the Rimward Veil, Kaelis’s silence), the site says so rather than inventing answers — see Behind the Design.

How the lore was written

A fixed fiction bible governed all writing: character names and backstories, the Concord Cycle calendar, the four resonance techniques, crew histories, and geography. The Glossary defines forty terms once, used identically across pages. Each page was written to 600–1500 words of substantive, internally consistent lore, then checked against the bible.

How the images were made

All images were generated in-house (September 2026) from a fixed character description — “poised courageous female space heroine with auburn hair in a gold-and-ivory StarTeam command uniform with laurel insignia” — to keep Mara’s look consistent across the site. No image contains baked-in text (captions live in HTML). Every image is labeled “AI-generated dramatization art” in its caption and recorded in the image credits on this page.

How the site was built

Static HTML generated from Markdown editorial by a small build script (tools/build.py, adapted from the proven Einstein-site pattern), with per-page canonical/OG metadata on the mara-kest.sembrance.com subdomain, sitemap.xml, and robots.txt. QA (tools/qa_check.py) serves the build locally and checks every route: 200s, one h1, titles/meta, image alts, local images, no hotlinking, internal links, sitemap/robots, skip link, theme toggle, and the fiction-labeling and stream-mockup honesty checks.

What this site is not

Not official, not canon (unless the owner says so), and not a source of real-world facts. It’s a love letter with footnotes.
