Where everything on this site comes from — and how to check it yourself.
Primary sources
- The Royal Family website (royal.uk) — official biographies, speeches, statements, and announcements, including the accession address (9 September 2022) and Buckingham Palace statements.
- The Accession Council and College of Arms — the proclamation and declaration texts of 10 September 2022.
- UK Parliament / House of Commons Library — research briefings on the accession (CBP-9627), the Sovereign Grant, and the Crown Estate.
- The National Archives — legislation (Sovereign Grant Act 2011, Accession Declaration Act 1910) and historical records.
- The Court Circular — the official daily record of royal engagements.
- The Duchy of Cornwall and Duchy of Lancaster — published accounts and annual reports.
- The King’s Trust / The King’s Foundation — published histories, programme reports, and financial accounts.
Secondary sources
- Contemporaneous reporting from the BBC, The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, and the Press Association — used for dated events (weddings, speeches, purchases, diagnoses) and always attributed.
- The Sovereign Grant and Crown Estate figures: the Royal Trustees’ reports and HM Treasury publications.
- Biographical works are used sparingly and never as sole sources for contested claims.
Images and provenance
See the image captions for credits and context. Illustrated character art is a dramatization.
AI-generated images — the animated “King Charles” character art on the Stream, Social Pack, and Meet the Character pages — are labeled AI-generated dramatization art everywhere they appear, and depict a fictional cartoon character, never a photorealistic likeness of the real King.

- Tabloid exclusives from unnamed “palace insiders” as sole sources.
- Social-media posts as evidence of fact.
- Dramatized dialogue from films or television (The Crown, Spencer) as quotation.
