Training

Fictional character lore

Kaia has never trained a day in her life. The wilds disagree.

The Curriculum of the Wilds

Kaia's education, such as it is:

What She Never Learned

Forms. Stances. Breath control. Meditation (she tried once; the meditation garden caught fire — see rivals). Theory. The names of her own techniques — this site named them; she'd just call it "the spinny one." Restraint, occasionally, and only when Coral Splash is watching.

The Dojo's Assessment

The Fire Martial Artist, asked for a professional opinion, reportedly said: "She is the most naturally gifted fire-touched I have ever seen, and watching her fight is like watching a masterpiece painted by someone throwing the brushes." Kaia's response: "He thinks about fire too much. Fire doesn't want to be thought about. Fire wants to go."

Fictional exchange, obviously — like everything in the rivalry, invented for this site. But it captures the dynamic: discipline that can't quite disapprove of wildness that can't quite be tamed.

Could She Be Trained?

Coral Splash thinks yes, slowly, with infinite patience. Soren Frost thinks no, absolutely not, stop asking. The Fire Martial Artist keeps leaving his dojo gate open. Kaia keeps "training" by napping in warm ash and chasing cinderfoxes. The wilds, as ever, are in no hurry.
