Fictional character lore
How this site looks, and why — art direction for a wildfire.
The Brief: Untamed, Not Disciplined
Kaia's design had one hard rule: wild, never disciplined. A sibling character — the Fire Martial Artist — gets the ordered lava-dojo aesthetic: symmetry, control, mastery. Kaia gets the opposite: jagged flame edges, drifting ash, ember particles that won't sit still, scorched type that leans like it's been in a fire. Where the dojo is a kata, this site is a wildfire.
The Palette
- Charred black — the dark theme's ground: the Ashen Wastes at night.
- Magma orange — accents, links, the glow rising from below the page.
- Ember gold — highlights, the sparks in her hair.
- Ash grey — the light theme's paper: not clean white, but paper that's seen fire.
The Motifs
- Jagged flame dividers — section headings end in irregular flame-toothed edges (pure CSS clip-path), never straight lines. Fire doesn't do straight.
- Drifting embers — small glowing particles rise continuously up the page; grey ash drifts with them. They respect
prefers-reduced-motion. - Scorched type — heavy condensed display letterforms, uppercase, tight — like warnings burned into wood.
- Magma from below — the page background glows from the bottom edge, as if the site itself sits on cooling lava.
The Character Art Direction
All artwork on this site is AI-generated dramatization art (generated in-house, 2026-09-26), directed with a consistent character brief: an animated stylized girl with wild ember-red hair streaked with living flame, amber eyes, ash-speck freckles, scorched black-and-rust clothing with charred hems, barefoot, always trailing embers. She is a fictional character — the art is dramatization, never presented as a real person or a real photo. Every image is recorded in the image credits on this page with its prompt summary.
What Wasn't Used
No owner-supplied Vizlings character art was available for Kaia at build time (no sheet, no banner in the supplied assets), so the "Meet the character" page uses an honest placeholder instead of inventing a bio. If official art arrives, it will replace the generated stand-ins — and be labeled as the real thing.
