The operations that made the legend — an overview of Aeron Skyrift's defining campaigns.
Aeron Skyrift’s fictional career spans four decades of war, and fan lore organizes it around a handful of defining operations. Each is summarized here; the full after-action treatment lives in the Missions Archive.
The Siege of Kharad Gate (1199)
Nineteen days, outnumbered three to one, and the debut of the Chevron Protocol. As a newly promoted captain, Aeron held the Concord’s most strategic chokepoint against the Hollow Maw’s largest assault of the war by arranging his squadron in interlocking chevrons — each ship covering the blind arc of the next. The gate held. The war’s momentum shifted, and a welder’s son from Cinderport became a name the Maw learned to fear.
The Hollow Maw Incursion (1203)
The raiders’ deepest penetration of Concord space — and Aeron’s first operation as a commodore. Rather than chasing the incursion’s scattered raiding parties, he predicted the one system they could not afford to lose and was waiting there with a full wing. The incursion broke against him like water on rock.
The Black Reef Blockade (1205)
A year-long siege that became the definitive blockade operation in staff-college curricula. Instead of assaulting the Maw’s principal forward base, Aeron starved it — cutting supply lines with surgical precision until the base surrendered without a single Concord casualty. Patience, he demonstrated, is a weapon.
Operation Redoubt (1207)
The masterpiece: a coordinated strike across four systems, executed simultaneously, planned by Aeron in six days in a map room. It broke the Maw’s offensive capacity for a generation. The operation’s planning session — the maps, the coffee, the six sleepless days — is fleet legend.
The Veyra Evacuation (1209)
Two million civilians lifted off a burning world in eleven days, through a Maw blockade, without the loss of a single transport — ordered on Aeron’s own countermanded authority, on his own homeworld. He was court-martialed and acquitted within the hour. He has never spoken of it since. Fans cite it first; he refuses to discuss it at all.
Operation Lantern (1210)
A seventy-two-hour deep-space rescue through a debris field the navigators called unflyable, recovering every survivor of a shattered convoy. His after-action report was three sentences long. (The archive preserves all three.)
The Trelayne Summit (1211)
Not a fleet operation but nine minutes with a sidearm: holding the council chamber doors alone against forty Maw boarders until reinforcements arrived. The security footage is still used in close-quarters training. It is also, indirectly, how he met the StarTeam.
StarTeam deployments (1211–present)
Since joining the StarTeam, Aeron has planned and led small-unit operations with the same rigor he once applied to fleets: the Shattered Convoy ambush-break, the Keelhaul’s running fight through the Reef, and a dozen more the archive can only summarize — some still classified in-universe. The doctrine scales down perfectly. The stakes don’t.
His doctrine, in brief
Every operation above follows the same pattern — the pattern this site’s deep dives unpack:
- Homework first: the map room before the battlefield.
- Overlapping plates: no unit fights alone; every position covers another.
- Lives over pride: withdraw rather than waste; never trade casualties for reputation.
- The objective behind the objective: everyone knows not just the plan but its purpose, so anyone can adapt it.
