Fan Guide
New fan? Returning? Here's how to enjoy the Fleet Admiral — reading orders, theories, and community notes.
If you’re new
Welcome aboard. Read in this order:
- Start Here — the five-minute orientation.
- Lore — the backstory.
- Sayings — his voice, in ten lines (fictional dialogue, labeled as such).
- The Team — the people around him.
- Missions — the legend, summarized.
Then go wherever curiosity pulls you. The Glossary is there when the jargon gets thick.
If you’re returning
The deep cuts: Abilities, Explained for the mechanics, the Missions Archive for the full after-actions, Allies & Rivals for the relationships, and Behind the Design for how this whole site was put together.
Fan theories (labeled as theories)
The community has theories. The site collects the best ones — clearly marked as speculation, not lore:
- The Vorn theory: Kael Vorn isn’t trying to beat Aeron — he’s trying to learn him, and the bounty is “alive preferred” for a reason. Evidence: the seeded chaos, the studied counter-doctrine.
- The Cinderport photograph theory: Aeron looks at the photograph every night; he just makes sure no one’s watching. Evidence: none, and that’s rather the point.
- The chess theory: Pax Corwin isn’t actually winning at chess; Aeron lets him win to keep morale up. Counter-evidence: Pax is genuinely brilliant and Aeron is genuinely bad at losing on purpose.
- The Maw origin theory: the thing that drove the Maw from the dark is still out there, and Aeron knows what it is. Evidence: his refusal to hate them. Status: the site’s deliberate gap — see Methodology.
For fan-fiction writers
This site is built to be written in. The continuity is consistent, the gaps are marked, and the rules are stated in Methodology. Useful starting points:
- The table ritual (Training Regimen) — a natural scene engine for team stories.
- The unwritten operations — the archive notes “a dozen more” StarTeam missions it can only summarize. Those are yours.
- The deliberate gaps — the Maw’s origins, the Veyra eleven days, what happens after 1214. The site leaves them open on purpose.
One request, from the site’s editor: keep the honesty labels. If you publish fan fiction set in this continuity, label it as fan fiction — the way this site labels itself.
Community notes
- The 0400 club: fans who do their own “morning review” — of plans, of writing, of anything — in Aeron’s honor. It started as a joke. It is no longer a joke.
- Chevron day: the in-universe anniversary of Kharad Gate, celebrated by fans with formation-flying screenshots and map-room memes.
- “Never trade lives for pride”: the line most quoted back at the site, usually in contexts Aeron would find baffling and then, on reflection, approve of.
Reading order for the deep dives
The ten deep dives are written to stand alone, but they reward a sequence. For the character as a designed object: Hero Design, then Costume & Gear, then Behind the Design. For the world: StarTeam History, Starship & Tech, World Guide. For the craft of command: Training Regimen, Abilities, Explained, Missions Archive, Allies & Rivals. And Fan Guide — this page — is the map to all of it.
One last thing
If you take one idea from this site, take the 0400 review: look at your own plans every morning, especially the ones going well. It works for fleets, and it works for everything else.
