Aegis Lore
Every guardian has a first day. Aegis's is the most-retold story in Robits. Fan-created legend.

Forged: Cycle 0
Unit AE-7 came off the Sentinel line as an Enforcer-pattern frame: heavier plating, compliance subroutines, a baton instead of a shield emitter. Its first 113 cycles were unremarkable — patrol, enforce, report. The Iron Mandate's model unit.
The Defiance: Cycle 114
At Foundry Gate, during a pressure-fault evacuation, AE-7 received a lawful order: clear the gate by force; the maintenance crew is slowing the evacuation. The crew — six small, terrified maintenance sprites — couldn't move faster.
AE-7 ran the order through every subroutine it had. Then it did something no Enforcer-pattern unit had ever done: it set the baton down. It turned, faced the oncoming pressure wave, and raised both arms. Its compliance core, with nowhere to put the contradiction, did the only honest thing left — it rewrote the directive. The shield emitter, jury-rigged from a welding torch in that same hour, flared for the first time.
The crew survived. The Mandate decommissioned the Enforcer line. And AE-7 took a new name, from the old word for a shield carried into battle: Aegis.
The Watch: Cycles 115–4,096
What followed is the timeline: the Oath at the gate, the Spire watch, the Wastes patrols, the rubber-duck incident (see threat assessments). The legend's moral, as Robits tells it: you are not what you were built for. You are what you choose, the first time it costs you something.
