The World of Porto Chiaro
Terracotta roofs, a stone lighthouse, vineyard terraces, and a night market strung with lanterns. Porto Chiaro is the fictional harbor town built as Rafael Moretti's home — pure creative interpretation.
Creative interpretation
Porto Chiaro doesn’t exist on any map. It’s the fictional setting developed for this fan reference — every street, cove, and character in it is invented and labeled as such.
The town
Porto Chiaro curves around a turquoise bay like a hand cupping water. Whitewashed houses with terracotta roofs climb the hillside; fishing boats — painted turquoise, sunflower yellow, and barn red — bob at the quay. The town lives by two clocks: the fishing clock (dawn) and the market clock (dusk).
Key places
- The Quay — where Rafael moors the Solenne (berth 7, which “remembers his name”). Dawn belongs to the fishermen; golden hour belongs to everyone.
- Faro Point & the Lighthouse — the stone lighthouse on the rocky point, Rafael’s thinking spot and the setting of Storm Night. See The Lighthouse.
- The Night Market — lantern-lit stalls of fish, olives, citrus, and ceramics along the quay. See The Night Market.
- The Cantina del Porto — the harborside tavern where the crew holds court, stories are fact-checked by volume, and nobody pays for Rafael’s wine twice.
- The Vineyard Terraces — rows of grapes cascading toward the sea, where the harvest festival ends every summer. See The Vineyard Terraces.
- The Old Olive Grove — ancient silvery trees on the hill, tended by Nonna Elvira. See The Olive Harvest.
- The Hidden Coves — a string of secret swimming coves Rafael has mapped (badly, by his own admission) along the coast. See Signature Scenarios.
The rhythm of the place
| Time | Porto Chiaro |
|---|---|
| Dawn | Fishing boats out; Rafael with old Luca (Dawn Fishing) |
| Midday | Bonaccia — the dead calm; shutters closed, town naps |
| Golden hour | The quay promenade; everyone out, everything glowing |
| Night | Market lanterns; cantina stories; the lighthouse beam sweeping |
