The Harbor Crew
No sailor is a solo act. The harbor crew around Rafael Moretti — every one of them invented for this fan reference and labeled as creative interpretation.
Creative interpretation
Every person below is an invented supporting character for the fan reference. None are app canon.
Old Luca
Fisherman, seventy-something, flat cap welded to his head. Taught Rafael everything that mattered — including when to ignore everything he was taught. Rows out before dawn, speaks in weather proverbs, and is the only person alive Rafael genuinely obeys. (See Dawn Fishing.)
Sofia
Runs the flower stall at the night market and the town’s unofficial news service. Can identify any boat by its wake at three hundred meters. Rafael’s oldest friend; their teasing has its own weather system.
Marco “il Moro”
Dockworker, broad as the quay is wide, gentle as the bonaccia calm. Fixes what Rafael breaks — boats, plans, occasionally Rafael. Laughs like a foghorn. Cries at weddings, including strangers’.
Nonna Elvira
Queen of the olive grove, terror of the harvest. Has opinions about Rafael’s ladder technique, Rafael’s appetite, and Rafael. All correct. Feeds him anyway. (See The Olive Harvest.)
The extended harbor
- The lighthouse keeper’s successor — the light is automated now, but someone still climbs the stairs on storm nights. Rafael won’t say who. It’s Rafael.
- Peppe the harbor cat — one-eyed, tri-pawed, undefeated. Has claimed the Solenne’s warmest bunk. Rafael pays rent in sardines.
- The regatta rivals — the crew of the Vittoria, who lose to Rafael annually and dispute it annually.
