Visual Style Guide
The design language of this site and of Morgana's character art — stormy romance: slate violet, lightning silver, rain-slicked noir.
The concept
Stormy romance. Dark, glamorous, rain-slicked: a gothic heroine’s world rendered as web design. The site must feel like Voss Hall at midnight during a gale — candlelit darks, silver event-light, violet storm depth.
Palette
- Slate violet — the storm-sky ground of dark mode; deep, desaturated purple-grey.
- Lightning silver — accents, rules, active states: the flash that cuts the dark.
- Rain-slicked noir — near-black surfaces with a wet sheen (subtle gradients, never flat).
- Candle-gold (sparingly) — warmth reserved for highlights: the honest hour’s light.
Light mode inverts the romance: pale storm-grey paper, ink-violet text, silver rules — a letter written before the storm, rather than during it.
Typography
Display: an elegant high-contrast serif with romantic italics for ledes and pull-lines. Body: a clean readable serif/sans pairing. Letterspacing is used theatrically on small caps labels — never on body text.
Motifs (pure CSS/SVG)
- Lightning rules — section dividers drawn as SVG lightning bolts, not straight lines.
- Rain texture — faint diagonal rain-streak backgrounds in dark mode, fixed-attachment.
- Wax-seal badges — circular seal motifs for honesty labels and canon notes.
- No template look — this design is unique to Morgana; per standing design rule, no character site shares a template look.
Character art direction
All character art is AI-generated dramatization of the fictional Morgana Voss — consistent description across images: long raven-black hair, storm-grey eyes, pale skin, dark Victorian gown with silver embroidery, lightning-bolt brooch. Gothic romanticism, never horror-gore; storms as glamour, not menace. Never a real person — no likeness of any real individual is depicted or implied.
See the image captions for credits and context. Illustrated character art is a dramatization.
