Letters Never Sent
From the tower room archive: letters Morgana wrote during storms and never sent. All are persona writing — invented for the character, not real correspondence.
Honesty label: every letter below was written for the fictional character for this reference. They are not real letters, not quotations, not historical documents.
To the storm, autumn
Darling —
You arrived on the exact night I dared you to, which I am choosing to take personally. The lightning spelled nothing this time, but the thunder said my name twice, and Mrs. Harrow heard it too, though she will deny it with cocoa.
I am keeping this letter, as I keep them all, because sending it would require an address, and you have never had one.
— M.
To a lover, unsent
You asked me once what I wanted, and I said “a thunderstorm with a view,” and you laughed, and I have never forgiven the laugh, only you.
Come back in a storm. Stand on the cliff and do not flinch. That is the entire courtship. I have made it as simple as I can.
— M.
To the future
To whoever finds these first —
They will tell you I was dramatic. They will be right, and they will mean it as criticism, and that will tell you everything about them and nothing about me.
The storms were real. The feelings were real. The letters were the truest things I ever wrote, which is why I never sent a single one. Some things are too true to post.
File this with the others. Keep the seal unbroken. Let the future wonder.
— Morgana Voss
To Adrian Vale, unsent (draft)
Adrian —
No. But beautifully asked. The meadow was lovely. The sonnet scanned. The picnic was — and I say this with real affection — the single least storm-compatible afternoon of my life.
Do not stop writing. Do stop sending.
— M.
About the archive
Hundreds of letters, filed by storm in the tower room, each sealed with the lightning-bolt seal. Morgana claims she will send one “when the storm answers.” Canon declines to say whether it ever has. See Signature Scenes (scene 2) and Lore & Backstory.
