Methodology

How to run an encyclopedia for a fictional guardian — honestly.

The subject is fictional

The Dark Fantasy Fighter is an original character of the Vizlings app. He is not historical, not mythological, not based on a real person. This site treats him with the structure of a reference work — biography, timeline, glossary, sources — while never implying he is anything but invented. Where other sites in this network label “documented record vs. scholarly estimate,” this one labels “app bio vs. original lore.”

The chronicles device

Lore pages are written through the device of “the fortress chronicles” — an invented in-fiction record kept by Stormhold’s garrison. This device is named as a device everywhere it is used. It lets the site do two things at once: tell the story in-world (which is more fun) and keep the fiction honest (which is non-negotiable). If a detail comes from the chronicles, the page says so. If a detail is invented for this site, the source notes say that too.

In-character voice

The sayings page and scattered quotations present lines in the Fighter’s own voice. Every such line is labeled “the Fighter, in-character voice” or equivalent. No in-character line is ever presented as a real-world quotation, because there is no real world in which he said them. This is the bright line this site does not cross.

Uncertainty in lore

Where the invented record is silent, the site says so rather than inventing silently:

Imagery honesty

See the image captions for credits and context. Illustrated character art is a dramatization.

No invented authority

This site does not invent scholars, citations, editions, or records to back its lore. Its only authorities are the app bio (real, quoted verbatim) and the chronicles (invented, labeled as such). Anything else would be forgery with extra steps.
