Meet the Fighter
The guardian's public record — what the app says, and what the fortress adds.
The public bio (verbatim)
The following is the character’s public bio from the Vizlings app, quoted verbatim with attribution:
“A blade, a bridge, and weather with opinions. He guards the storm fortress and measures people by their questions. Bring a good one.”
— Public character bio, Vizlings app
That is the whole of the official public record. Everything else on this page and this site is original lore written to be consistent with it.
The basics
- Name: Kaelen — “the Dark Fantasy Fighter” is how the app lists him; the fortress calls him the Guardian.
- Post: the Span, the sole bridge to Stormhold, the storm fortress.
- Equipment: a hand-and-a-half sword named Answer (the blade); dark leather armor with bronze fittings; a long weatherproof coat that has survived, by his count, four hundred and eleven storms.
- Duty: to hold the crossing, to test every visitor three ways, and to turn away anyone whose questions are too small for the storm.
- Known habits: standing in the rain on purpose (the quiet hours); listening to the Tempest before answering anyone (the weather); kneeling at dawn to renew his vow (the oath).
What he is not
He is not a king, not a knight of any order, not a mercenary, and not for hire. He has no enemies on record — only visitors, sorted into those who were admitted and those who were measured and found wanting. He has never left the Span. The fortress chronicles are explicit on this point and offer no explanation.
In his own voice
His sayings are collected in one place — every line clearly labeled as the character’s voice, never presented as real-world quotation. A sample:
“The bridge is a hundred feet long. Most visitors are shorter.” — the Fighter, in-character voice
Source notes
- Public bio quoted verbatim from the Vizlings app; see sources.
- Lore (name Kaelen, equipment details, duties) is original, developed for this site and consistent with the app bio. Where the lore is invented rather than given, it is marked as the fortress chronicles’ account.
