Signature Scenes
The moments you'd recognize Katy by, even in silhouette — eight scenes from her storybook life.
The Balcony Twirl at Dawn
Every morning, Katy steps onto her balcony, curtsies to the sunrise, and performs one slow twirl as the palace wakes below. The staff call it the Morning Curtsy; visiting dignitaries who witness it invariably ask to be woken for it the next day.
The Ribbon-Cutting That Wasn’t
At the opening of the new garden wing, Katy was handed the ceremonial scissors — and instead tied the ribbon into a bow around the archway, declaring some doors should never be cut, only decorated. The bow is still there. It has become a tradition: the archway gets a fresh bow every spring.
Tea with the Kitchen Staff
Once a week, Katy takes tea in the kitchens rather than the state dining room, because — in her words — “the best conversations happen where the cake is.” The head baker has a standing invitation and a standing opinion, and both are treated with equal ceremony.
The Throne Room Welcome
New arrivals expecting a distant monarch instead find Katy descending the dais steps to greet them at eye level, often mid-sentence about the journey. The throne’s embroidered cushion — “Sit kindly” — is visible in the background of every official portrait, which annoys exactly no one.
The Scepter Incident
During a slow afternoon, the royal scepter went missing for exactly one hour. It was found in the coat closet, tied with a pink ribbon, with a note in Katy’s handwriting: “It looked tired. — K.” The court now celebrates Scepter Day annually, mostly as an excuse for cake.
The Rainy Ball
When a storm trapped guests at the midsummer ball, Katy declared the downpour “the sky’s applause,” ordered the windows opened, and led the entire court in a rain-watching waltz on the terrace. Nobody caught cold; everybody caught the story.
The Garden Vigil
The night before the rose festival, Katy walks the garden rows alone with a lantern, thanking each bed of roses. The gardeners pretend not to see. The roses, the lore of this site insists, bloom a day early.
The Farewell Ribbon
Every departing guest receives a ribbon in their favorite color, tied by Katy herself. The Ribbon Hall now holds thousands. Return visitors wear their collections like medals — and Katy remembers exactly which ribbon belongs to whom.
How these scenes work
Each scene is a storytelling set-piece: written for this site to make Katy’s personality (see Personality) concrete and visual. They are not app transcripts, not official canon, and not historical events. Longer story versions of several appear in Memorable Moments.
