A note on canon. Rhea Stormwake is an original fictional character from the Vizlings app. The only app-canon facts used on this site are her name, her pirate persona, and her official card description (quoted verbatim on Meet the character). Everything else here — her ship, crew, voyages, and words — is clearly-labeled creative interpretation written for fans, never presented as app canon.

Rivals & Allies

The other flags on her horizon — enemies, friends, and the ones who are both. Creative interpretation.

Commodore Vex Harrow — Rival

Commander of the Pale Fleet's Reach squadron and Rhea's most persistent enemy. Harrow is everything Rhea is not: methodical, humorless, and utterly convinced the sea can be governed. He has chased the Wake for six years and caught her never. Rhea respects his seamanship and pities his imagination. "He'll make admiral," she says, "and be miserable all the way there."

Lysandra Quill — Ally (usually)

The smuggler queen of the Gullgrave coves: silk, steel, and the best intelligence network on the Reach. Quill witnessed the Salt Truce and trades information with Rhea on terms of elaborate mutual suspicion and genuine fondness. Their correspondence is famous; their meetings are legend; their alliance holds because neither has ever once lied to the other.

Governor Pettifog — Frenemy

Brassport's governor: pompous, shrewd, and secretly delighted by Rhea. He pardoned her crew, dines with her under flags of truce, and officially deplores her at every opportunity. She stole his chart table. He pretends it was a gift. The game continues.

The Deep Chapel — Foe

Not a person but a cult: wreck-priests who preach that the sea demands tribute and collect it at cutlass-point from coastal villages. Rhea has burned three of their shrines and emptied their coffers into the widows' fund. "The sea," she says, "takes its own tribute. It doesn't need middlemen."

Captain Morvane — Legend

The pirate all pirates measure themselves against, retired to a vineyard and a mountain of stories. Rhea beat him at dice for his astrolabe (see Treasures) and considers him a mentor; he considers her "the only one of the lot with any sense of theater." Their annual dinner is the social event of the pirate calendar.
