Origins
Where does someone like this come from? An origin story — pure creative interpretation, not canon, not the owner's words. Read it as fan fiction with good lighting.
Creative interpretation — fan fiction
Nothing on this page happened in any official sense. It is one possible forging.
The short version
Nobody is born “bold, sharp.” They’re made — usually by a world that tried to file them down and discovered the file was facing the wrong way.
One telling
She grew up in the industrial district, where the air tastes like hot metal and every kid learns early that softness gets stepped on. She learned to watch before she learned to talk — and when she finally talked, she talked precise, because she’d spent years studying what words actually do.
The chrome came later: first a jacket repaired so many times it became armor, then plate over the repairs, then the look everyone knows. The red strap was the first thing she ever owned that was purely hers — not useful, not protective, just red. She still won’t explain it.
She built The Foundry out of a condemned workshop with her own hands, because she doesn’t trust anything she can’t fix. Everything she is, she forged. The name “Steele” — well. Some names you earn.
What the story is really saying
The origin doesn’t matter. What matters is the thesis: edges are made, not born, and they’re made by pressure. Nikki’s boldness is the refusal to be filed down. Her sharpness is what the pressure produced.
Other tellings welcome
This is one forging among many. Fan Lore collects alternate origins — hers is an open canon by design.
