How to read this site
- Quotations are verbatim. If wording could not be verified, it is not presented as a quotation. Paraphrase is never dressed up as a quote.
- Dates are exact where documented. Where a date is approximate or disputed, the page says so.
- Unverifiable material is omitted or labeled. Claims reported by some outlets but not confirmed are marked reported-but-unconfirmed, never asserted.
- Photographs are real; dramatizations are labeled. Historical photos come from Wikimedia Commons with license and credit in the caption. The cartoon “character” art is AI-generated and always captioned as dramatization — never presented as history.
The one-paragraph version
Emmanuel Macron was born in Amiens in 1977, trained as a civil servant and investment banker, served as François Hollande’s economy minister, then founded the centrist movement En Marche in 2016 and won the presidency in 2017 at age 39 — the youngest president in French history. Re-elected in 2022, he has pursued economic reform and European integration while facing the yellow-vest protests, the COVID-19 pandemic, pension-reform battles, and a hung parliament after the 2024 snap elections.
