Rivals
Every Don has his across-the-street. The Don's rivals are handled the way he handles everything: fed first, heard out, and outlasted.
All rival crews are fictional, invented for this fan site. No real persons or groups are described.
The Mammal Mob
Warm-blooded, fast-moving, and furious about the tariff. They fought the family for eighteen months until the Truce of the Long Table in ‘30 — sealed, characteristically, over dinner. These days the Mammals run the northside clubs and send a very nice wreath every Christmas. The Don sends one back. The wreaths have become a whole thing.
The Raptor Street Boys
Young, quick, and briefly ambitious: in ‘33 they tried to run their own numbers on the Don’s blocks. He hired every one of them at wages their old boss couldn’t match. Their former boss now works the door at the Copper Scale — Big Al says he’s excellent at it. The Boys are family now. That’s how the Don does war.
Big Marla
A titanosaur — the largest dinosaur in Fossil Bay — who runs the uptown piers and once demanded the whole harbor. The ‘39 sit-down lasted four hours; she left with the piers and the Don kept the harbor, which was always the valuable part. She has never forgiven him for being right. She has never stopped taking his calls, either.
The standing policy
Rivals are not enemies; they are future dinner guests. The family’s position, per the Code: feed them, hear them, outlast them. It has worked since 1930.
