Operations
Every family has its businesses. The Don's are profitable, mostly legitimate on paper, and entirely fictional.
Everything below is fan-made world-building for a fictional family. No real business is described, and nothing here concerns the real world.
The Copper Scale
The art-deco jazz lounge that serves as headquarters, court, and — officially — a completely legitimate business. Lucy Songbird headlines; Big Al minds the door; the long table in the back room settles the city’s disputes. The books, per the Professor, are immaculate.
Bone Harbor tariffs
The docks run neutral and the tariff runs the docks: every crew’s cargo moves, every crew pays. Silas administers it with a crane operator’s precision. The most boring racket in Fossil Bay, and the most profitable.
The cannery
The fish cannery on Raptor Street — the family’s first territory — still pays on time, every time, out of respect. The Don still tastes the first tin of every season. Tradition.
Fossil Fuel Co.
A chain of filling stations with an excellent name and, the Professor insists, excellent margins. The pun is the Don’s. Nobody is allowed to complain about the pun.
Tar & Feather Waste Removal
Hauling and disposal, borough-wide. The name predates the family and the family kept it — Big Al says it builds character. The trucks are always on schedule.
The Numbers
A neighborhood lottery, older than the Don, now run strictly by the book: published odds, published payouts, the Professor’s personal guarantee. The old-timers call it the only honest game in town. The Don does not correct them.
