What is the Macaronis world?
The Macaronis world is the fictional home of the Vizlings app's pasta people — a warm, musical, slightly absurd world where everyone is some kind of pasta: penne, fusilli, rigatoni, farfalle, orzo, gnocchi, and more. It's the shared setting for Dash, Whole Wheat Willie, Rasta Pasta, and the rest of the Macaronis cast.
Al Dente — the capital
The capital city is Al Dente, named for the ideal state of being: firm, ready, never mushy. Its skyline is a pantry come to life — penne towers, fusilli spires, a stadium shaped like a colander. Dash knows every street, alley, rooftop, and shortcut: the city is his racetrack, and he's undefeated.
Districts (as Dash knows them)
- The Rolling Pin District — Dash's home turf. Chrome diners, drive-ins, delivery corridors. He knows every shortcut; the pigeons know Dash.
- The Harlem Quarter — jazz clubs and brownstone loaves; Willie's territory. Dash's emergency-supply runs end here.
- Penne Heights — the station district; where newcomers arrive. Dash meets every rookie at the station. (He's faster than the train. This is established.)
- Fusilli Flats — spiral streets; Dash's favorite shortcut and everyone else's maze.
- Rigatoni Row — theater marquees; big opening-night delivery energy.
- The Sourdough Docks — flour barges and ferry horns; Dash's sunrise route.
- Jerkwater Beach — boardwalk and sound systems; Rasta Pasta's stage. Dash runs the beach supply route every festival.
The Great Boil
Pasta-person legend says the world began with the Great Boil: a cosmic pot, a pinch of salt, and eight minutes that made everything. Dash's take: "Eight minutes? I could've done it in six." (The theologians have asked him to stop saying this.)
Daily life
- Currency: the dough (naturally). Dash is paid partly in dough, partly in milkshakes.
- Greetings: "Stay firm!" is standard. Dash's version is shouted while passing: "STAYFIRMbye!"
- Food: pasta people eat other foods — sauces, cheeses, vegetables, bread. Eating pasta is the one great taboo. Dash runs on diner food and pure momentum.
- Weather: mostly sunny with a chance of parmesan. Dash delivers in all of it.
- Transport: the Fusilli Line (subway — Dash has beaten it), DashDash Couriers (Dash is the express option), and the Starchlight Trolley (tourists only).
The vibe
The Macaronis world runs on three fuels: music, food, and showing up for each other — and Dash is the showing-up part, mechanized. A city where the fastest thing alive is also the friendliest is a city in good shape.
