Macaronis Geography

Dash's mental map
Ask Dash for directions and you don't get street names — you get times. "Penne Heights to the Docks? Four minutes, six if the bridge is up, three if the pigeons are cooperating." This page translates his mental map into something the rest of us can use.
Districts of Al Dente
The Rolling Pin District (home turf)
Chrome, neon, and the smell of fresh fries. The DashDash depot anchors the district; the Starlight Diner anchors Dash. Delivery corridors radiate like spokes — Dash's spokes.
The Sourdough Docks
Flour barges, ferry horns, farfalle gulls. Dash's sunrise route runs the waterfront; he's on a first-name basis with every dockworker and most of the gulls.
Fusilli Flats
Spiral streets that confuse visitors. Dash's favorite shortcut: the full spiral at sprint speed, which he calls "the corkscrew." Rookies are not allowed to attempt the corkscrew.
Penne Heights
Tube tenements and the grand station. Dash meets every rookie runner here and races the departing train to the district line. (He wins. It's tradition.)
The Harlem Quarter
Willie's territory: jazz clubs, brownstone loaves. Dash's emergency-supply runs end at the Golden Grain's stage door, usually with seconds to spare and always with a story.
Jerkwater Beach
Boardwalk, skate rink, sound systems. Dash runs the festival supply route — speakers, snacks, spare everything — and stays for exactly one song. (He's timing himself.)
Rigatoni Row
Theater marquees and opening nights. Big tubes, big voices, big last-minute deliveries.
Beyond the city
- The Durum Wheatlands — rolling gold; Dash's long-distance training ground.
- Lake Al Dente — the great freshwater pot; Dash once ran its shoreline on a bet. (He won. The bet, and then lunch.)
- The Grater Mountains — snowy peaks; site of the legendary parmesan-blizzard medicine run.
- Orzo Isles — tiny islands; Dash delivers there by ferry and complains about the ferry the entire time. (He loves the ferry.)
Getting around (the Dash ranking)
- Running (obviously)
- DashDash Couriers (himself, mostly)
- The Fusilli Line (for when even Dash needs to rest — rare)
- The Starchlight Trolley (tourists; Dash waves at it as he passes)
