Origin Story
Baked golden. Born running.
The bakery oven
Dash was baked — breadsticks are baked, not extruded, and Dash will correct you — at the Golden Crust Bakery on the edge of the Rolling Pin District: the longest of the batch, the one that came out of the oven already leaning forward. The baker swears Dash was vibrating before he'd even cooled.
The bakery taught him two things: freshness (everything's best right now, so hurry) and warmth (deliver it like you baked it yourself).
The first delivery
At barely cooled, Dash was already running errands: a loaf here, a dozen rolls there, always back before the bell stopped ringing. The neighborhood noticed. Then the district noticed. Then Waffle Wendy, the dispatcher at DashDash Couriers, timed him with a stopwatch and hired him on the spot.
His first official run: a wedding cake across town in a thunderstorm. He arrived in eleven minutes, cake level, grin intact. The bride cried. The groom tipped in cake. Dash ate it at full sprint.
The fast lane
DashDash Couriers gave him the red cap, the jacket, and the number-one slot. He gave them the legend: the Docks bridge crossed against the light cycle, the Fusilli Flats spiral taken at full tilt, the Grater Mountains supply run in a parmesan blizzard. Other runners have seniority. Dash has stories.
The cap
The backwards red cap? Standard issue — every DashDash runner gets one. Dash just wears his backwards because, and I quote: "The wind told me to." Nobody has ever seen him wear it forwards. Meteorologists confirm the wind has opinions.
