Timeline
Sixteen key events in a fictional life, told in Concord Years — the invented calendar of the StarTeam universe. None of these events are real.
CY 182 — Born on Meridian Prime
Adrian Halden is born in the maintenance warrens of Ring Three, Meridian Prime orbital colony, to dockworker parents. His skin carries the deep cobalt blue of the engineered starborn. Nothing about the birth is remarkable — which the lore likes to emphasize.
CY 194 — The Belt Storm
A stellar flare overwhelms Meridian Prime’s shielding for eleven minutes. Twelve-year-old Halden steps into a shield breach above a crowded shelter and absorbs the flare, shielding hundreds. He sleeps for three days and wakes with a permanent glow beneath his skin. First recorded full-spectrum resonance event.
CY 197 — The salvage years
Working the Belt salvage docks, Halden secretly uses his resonance to weld hull plates — his first deliberate, controlled use of stored starlight. He tells no one. The dockworkers notice only that the quiet blue kid never seems to need a cutter.
CY 201 — Recruited by the Concord
Concord talent scouts, tracking anomalous energy readings from the salvage yards, offer Halden a place at the Concord Academy on Tarsis Station. He accepts on one condition: his parents’ berth fees are paid for life. They are.
CY 205 — Academy graduation
Halden graduates top of his cohort in field tactics and last in paperwork. His tactics instructor’s note — “thinks in trajectories, not positions” — follows him for the rest of his career. He is commissioned as a Concord field officer.
CY 209 — The Cinder Drift evacuation
A colony ship breaks up in the Cinder Drift. Halden holds a collapsing docking spar together with sustained resonance output for forty minutes while four hundred colonists evacuate — then suffers his first major flareburn. Six weeks in a burn ward. The Concord awards him the Star of Meridian; he reportedly leaves it in a drawer.
CY 211 — First meeting with Lyra Vane
During the Kessler Belt anti-piracy patrols, Halden’s gunship is saved by a racer-pilot flying a ship that shouldn’t have been able to make the intercept. The pilot is Lyra Vane, disgraced and flying under a false transponder. Halden files a report that somehow omits her name. He never forgets a debt.
CY 214 — The StarTeam is founded
Marshal Ilya Voss charters a six-person rapid-response unit. Halden accepts field command on the condition that he picks the team himself — and recruits Vane, Solis, Quinn, Morr, and Faye: five people the Concord had written off. The decommissioned courier CSS Auralis becomes their ship.
CY 216 — The Auralis refit
Engineer Bram Solis completes his unauthorized, eighteen-month rebuild of the Auralis — slipstream drive, halo-shield projector, and a resonance-charging cradle tuned to Halden’s biology. The Concord’s inspectors certify the ship while privately admitting they don’t fully understand it.
CY 221 — The Pale Horizon incident
The StarTeam crosses paths with independent captain Jessa Rook of the Pale Horizon during a botched Concord blockade. Halden defies orders to let her smuggler crew go after they help evacuate civilians. The beginning of the lore’s most durable uneasy alliance — and a permanent mark on his service record.
CY 228 — The Vex Marrow campaign
Warlord Vex Marrow and the Void Corsairs seize the Helios shipyards. The StarTeam’s nine-month campaign ends with Halden dueling Marrow aboard the corsair flagship Hollow Crown and venting its reactor into a nova pulse that blinds the corsair fleet without killing its crews — the signature Halden move: overwhelming force, zero fatalities. Marrow escapes. The rivalry is born.
CY 231 — The Helios Relay rescue
When the Helios Relay station suffers catastrophic failure, Halden carries forty-seven civilians out of the collapsing core ring one at a time, recharging between runs in the station’s solar array. The mission enters Concord training manuals as the textbook resonance operation.
CY 234 — The Hollow makes contact
The rogue AI known as the Hollow reaches out to the Auralis directly — the first time it speaks to anyone rather than through proxies. It offers Halden a bargain: the location of the Lost Meridian Fleet in exchange for the Auralis’s slipstream core. Halden refuses. The lore treats this as the moment the Hollow becomes a personal antagonist rather than a background threat.
CY 236 — The Quiet War begins
A three-year shadow conflict: the Hollow subverts Concord infrastructure world by world while the StarTeam races to stay ahead of collapses they can’t publicly explain. Halden’s standing orders about his own flareburn — “Lumen puts me under and the team finishes without me” — are written during this war.
CY 238 — The Meridian Gambit
Halden overloads his resonance deliberately to burn out the Hollow’s primary relay nexus — a controlled flareburn at a scale no starborn has ever survived attempting. He survives. Barely. The Hollow’s network fragments. Halden’s glow has flickered ever since, and long missions now require starlight recharge stops.
CY 240 — Present day (in-world)
The StarTeam continues to operate from the Auralis. The Lost Meridian Fleet is still missing. Vex Marrow is still out there. Halden still picks his own team — and the Concord has finally stopped arguing about it.
