Stream Scripts
Sample scripts for the character stream — fan-written fictional dialogue, labeled as dramatized scripts. The events follow the fan lore; the words are the writers' invention.
Script 1 — "First Foam" (cold open)
Setting: the plunge pool at dawn. Whit addresses the audience directly.
WHIT: Okay — new friends! Rule one of the river: nobody arrives. You gather. One dawn I was foam, the next dawn I was foam with opinions. The mist sprites named me before I could object, which is good, because my first idea was "Captain Churn" and we do NOT talk about Captain Churn. Today we run the Tine end to end. Stay behind the spray. If you fall in — congratulations, you're foam now too.
Script 2 — "The Heron Race" (commentary)
Setting: Split Rock Canyon. Whit provides live commentary on the race.
WHIT: And they're off! Heron takes the early lead with — ugh — wings, show-off. But wait — the glass eye at Split Rock, I'm on it, I'm riding it, the water moves and the wave stays, be the wave — AND WHIT TAKES IT BY HALF A TAIL-FEATHER! Captain, say it. Say the words. HERON (distant): Morally, a tie. WHIT: HE SAID THE WORDS, FOLKS. HE SAID THE WORDS.
Script 3 — "The Offer" (quiet scene)
Setting: Stillwater's pond at dusk. The stream's quietest script.
STILLWATER: Rest, little rapid. The pond never hurries. Nothing here ever has to be fast again. WHIT (a long pause): ...That's the kindest thing anyone's ever offered me. And I can't take it. Because — listen. Motion is identity. Take the current out of the river and what's left is a ditch with good lighting. I have to go. The Tine's running without me and that is unacceptable.
