Abilities
Six kinds of music magic. Tansy's abilities, as the regulars of Neon Starlight City describe them — fan-written fiction about a fictional character.
1. Encore Dash
Short bursts of impossible speed — across a stage, through a crowd, up the stadium stairs two at a time. It only triggers when she’s running toward something she cares about (a friend, a stage, the last bubble tea of the day). Running away from things makes it fizzle. Each power is explained in more depth on Powers Explained.
2. Starlight Notes
Her signature magic: when she sings with real feeling, her notes become visible as glowing starlight that drifts over the audience. Happy songs make gold notes; sad songs make blue ones; the blackout duet made silver. The notes fade in minutes but people swear they can still feel them.
3. Combo Streak
The longer she performs without breaking focus, the stronger everything gets — voice, lights, the crowd’s energy feeding back into her. Thirty songs deep, she once lit up half of Pop Avenue. Breaking the streak (a missed cue, a moment of doubt) drops it all at once, which is why the four-second freeze scared her so much.
4. Pop Shield
A burst of starlight that softens blows — literal ones. It caught a falling speaker at the showcase and a stage-diving fan at the Battle of the Bands. It can’t be held up long and it can’t protect her from words, which the lore notes pointedly.
5. Harmony Hear
Tansy can hear the “pitch” of a room — whether a crowd is nervous, joyful, restless — the way others hear a melody. She adjusts her set list mid-show by feel, which is why her concerts feel personal even at stadium scale.
6. Spotlight Step
Once per show, she can step into a beam of light and come out somewhere else on stage — a teleport with theatrical timing. She uses it for entrances, encores, and exactly one prank on Static that is still talked about.
Limits
Her magic runs on genuine feeling and audience connection — faked enthusiasm produces grey, flat notes that fall like ash. It fails in true silence (no crowd, no Melody, no heartbeat to sync to), it can’t be recorded (cameras catch only the girl, never the starlight), and it always costs her: usually her voice for a day after, sometimes a crash into the quiet she fears. See Powers Explained for the full mechanics.
