A fictional forward operating base at dusk: floodlit compound walls, antenna masts and a watchtower

Allies & Rivals

The fictional cast around the persona — allies who cover, rivals who sharpen. All fan invention, all labeled.

Reading label: fan interpretation. Every figure below is a fictional archetype invented by this guide. None are official characters and none are real people.

Allies

The Handler

Assigns the missions and absorbs the political cost. Trusts Tactical’s judgment in the field and questions it in the debrief — which is exactly the job. Dry, precise, protective of the team in their own way.

The Driver

Unflappable. Has gotten the team out of worse with less. Communicates in nods and engine notes. The persona’s oldest working relationship in this guide’s fiction — trust measured in extractions, not words.

The Tech

Young, fast, allergic to boredom. Runs drones and signals and treats the map table like an instrument. Pushes the persona to modernize; the persona pushes back just enough to keep things working.

The Medic

Patches everyone up and prescribes rest that nobody takes. The moral center of the unit: the one who reminds the persona that the team is people, not assets. Usually right. Routinely overruled, then proven right.

The Rookie

New, eager, learning. The mentoring beat made flesh — the persona’s patience is most visible here. Asks the questions the audience wants answered, which makes the Rookie the guide’s favorite exposition device.

Rivals

Vex — the louder counterpart

A rival operative who does everything faster and says so. Nearly as good, twice as visible. The rivalry is professional, not personal — but it stings, because Vex’s methods work just often enough to be annoying.

The Auditor — the one who counts

Not a field rival but a bureaucratic one: reviews every mission for cost, risk, and paperwork. The persona’s discipline is the only thing that keeps the Auditor from winning — barely.

Mirror — the one who left

A former teammate who took the same skills somewhere darker. The guide’s heaviest invention: a reminder of what the persona’s code is for. Encounters are quiet, tense, and unresolved — by design.
