Guide to the Frozen Reaches

The frozen north of Elementria, as fans imagine it — invented geography for a fictional world.

Fictional character. Soren Frost is an original character from the Vizlings app (Elementria world). Everything on this page beyond the app’s card description is fan-style worldbuilding — invented lore for a fictional character, not fact.

The Frozen Reaches are the far north of Elementria — the Vizlings app’s world, named on Soren’s card — as imagined by fans: a land where winter is not a season but a government, and everything living has negotiated its terms. What follows is invented geography, written the way travel guides are written, for a place that isn’t there.

Glimmerharbor

A fishing village on the southern shore where the sea pretends, most of the year, not to be frozen. Population in the low hundreds; economy in fish, furs, and stubbornness. Soren’s birthplace, and the site of the Glacier Awakening — the harbor mouth still shows the scar: a ring of blue-white ice the thaws never fully take. The villagers are proud of him the way small towns are proud of weather.

Frosthold Citadel

The Wardens’ seat, carved from a living glacier on the cliff called the White Anvil. Part fortress, part school, part lighthouse: its rune-etched gates glow on storm nights to guide travelers in. The Frozen Throne at its heart sits empty — the Wardens serve; none rule. See The Citadel for the full walk-through.

The Mirror Lake

A high glacial lake frozen so smooth and clear that wardens train on it at dawn, reading their own forms in the ice. Soren’s daily practice ground. The tablets say the lake was a giant’s mirror, dropped and shattered into exactly one piece. The tablets say a lot of things.

The Wailing Spires

A forest of natural ice towers in the deep Reaches where the wind plays them like flutes — the “wailing” that gives them their name. Beautiful, disorienting, and best crossed quickly: the spires’ song has led more than one traveler in circles. Frost ravens nest here in their hundreds.

The Three Passes

The only roads through the White Anvil range: Widow’s Pass (the wide one, and the one armies try), Needle’s Eye (the narrow one, and the one smugglers try), and the Frozen Pass proper — Soren’s post, site of the battle that named it in the timeline. Holding all three is the Wardens’ whole job.

The Thawline

Not a place but a front: the shifting boundary where the Reaches’ winter meets the lowlands’ spring. It advances and retreats with the years, and everything political in the north — raids, treaties, the Thawborn’s whole grievance — happens along it. Soren has stood watch on the Thawline more winters than he cares to count.

Weather as character

In fan tellings, the Reaches’ weather behaves like a character in Soren’s story: the blizzard that arrives when he’s angry, the unnatural stillness before he acts, the aurora burning brightest on the nights he stands the Long Vigil. The lore never quite decides whether the weather follows him or answers him — see Fan Theories for the argument. Either way, no one in the Reaches checks the sky without thinking of him.

Lore status: invented. Elementria is the app’s world name; every place on this page is fan invention. See methodology.
