ref/sam-altman policy --show
Methodology
The rules this site follows — because the subject is alive, active, and contested.
1. Neutrality is a method, not a mood
This site takes no position on Sam Altman — no endorsement, no attack, no partisan framing. Supporters’ and critics’ claims are both reported, each attributed to its source. Loaded language (“visionary,” “fraud,” “doomer”) appears only inside attributed quotations, never in this site’s own voice.
2. Facts carry dates; disputes carry names
- A documented fact is stated with its date: “Microsoft invested $1 billion in July 2019.”
- A contested claim is attributed: “The board said Altman ‘was not consistently candid’; Altman’s allies disputed that characterization.”
- Speculation is labeled speculation and never presented as fact.
3. Uncertainty policy
Where the record is incomplete, this site says so explicitly. The November 2023 board crisis is the sharpest example: the full reasons for Altman’s removal have never been publicly established, and this site reports what is known (the board’s statement, the WilmerHale review’s conclusion, the participants’ accounts) without filling the gaps.
4. Allegations are allegations
Unproven allegations — including the January 2025 family lawsuit — are reported as allegations with the subject’s denial, in brief, with no detail beyond the public record. No adjudication is implied. See Myth vs. Record.
5. Quotations are verbatim and cited
The Sayings page admits only quotations traceable to a primary source — posts, essays, transcripts. Wording is given as documented. Lines that circulate without a source are quarantined in a separate misattributed section.
6. Images: real or labeled, never faked
- Biographical pages use real photographs from Wikimedia Commons, each CC-licensed or public domain, with artist, license, and source recorded in the image credits on this page and credited in captions.
- No AI-generated image on this site depicts the real Sam Altman. Generated art appears only as (a) the stylized Vizlings character dramatization — labeled “AI-generated dramatization art — not a depiction of the real person” — (b) abstract/conceptual illustration, or (c) the social pack.
- The owner’s original character sheets are private style references and are not displayed.
7. Corrections
Errors of fact will be corrected with a dated note. Claims rest on reporting available through this site’s compilation date (26 September 2026); later developments belong on the relevant pages, not silently rewritten history.
