Sam Altman

Entrepreneur, investor, and CEO of OpenAI. From a location-based startup in Y Combinator's first batch to leading one of the world's most-watched AI labs — documented factually, with disputed claims flagged as disputed.

Sam Altman (born 22 April 1985) is an American entrepreneur and investor, best known as the co-founder and chief executive of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Before OpenAI he founded the location-sharing startup Loopt, led the startup accelerator Y Combinator as president from 2014 to 2019, and became one of Silicon Valley’s most prolific early-stage investors.

This is a neutral reference site about a living person. Claims are dated and sourced; where the public record is contested — most notably the November 2023 OpenAI board crisis — multiple perspectives are presented and speculation is labeled as such. No partisan framing, no endorsement, no attack.

The character

This site is the reference companion to the owner’s animated “Sam Altman” character from the Vizlings app — a dramatized companion for a YouTube stream concept. Meet the character on the Meet the Character page, watch the concept on Stream (temporary mockup), and browse the Social Pack of downloadable character art. All character art is labeled AI-generated dramatization — never a depiction of the real person.
