How This Site Was Made
A reference site about a living person in an active investigation has to be built like a courtroom exhibit: every claim labeled, every quote verbatim, every gap admitted. Here is the method.
The subject
The subject is a living public figure — Andrew Albert Christian Edward Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly HRH The Duke of York — who is under active police investigation as of 2026. That fact governs every choice below.
Evidence classes
Every substantive claim on this site carries one of three labels:
- On the record — verified fact: a court record, an official statement, a dated public action, a broadcast anyone can replay.
- Reported — asserted by reputable outlets but not independently verifiable from primary documents available to this site. Treated as attributed, not settled.
- Allegation — a claim by a party, stated as their claim, with any denial alongside it. Never stated as fact. Never repeated without the label.
The quotation rule
Quotes are verbatim and cited, or they are not quotes. The BBC interview, the palace statements and the settlement filing are quoted from the documents themselves. Paraphrase is never presented as quotation. Where the exact wording is uncertain, the page says so.
The living-person policy
- No allegation is stated as fact — including in headlines, summaries and image captions.
- Arrest is not guilt; investigation is not conviction; settlement is not admission. Each is stated in its own terms.
- Where the record is disputed (the 2001 photograph, the introduction to Epstein, the medical claim), the dispute is reported without being resolved by this site.
- Posthumous publication (Nobody’s Girl) is noted as the author’s account, not as corroboration.
Images
- Real-person photographs are real Wikimedia Commons photographs, with author, license and file page recorded in provenance.json. No fake photographs exist on this site; no AI imagery is presented as a real person.
- Stylized character art — where it appears (stream, character pages, social pack) — is AI-generated dramatization, plainly labeled, dignified, and never scandal-themed.
Currency and correction
The site reflects the public record through September 2026. Where later reporting clarifies a reported matter — charges filed or not filed, a trial date, a conviction or acquittal — the relevant pages should be updated and the change dated. Factual errors will be corrected with a dated correction note, not silent edits.
What the site will not do
It will not publish unverified claims to “fill out” thin sections; it will not adopt tabloid framing; it will not present estimates (settlement sums, wealth figures) as facts; and it will not speculate about private matters (health, family relations, unreported income) beyond what the principals or the record have stated.
Source notes
- Method pages describe process; the evidence for individual facts lives on their pages and on Sources.
- The three evidence classes are defined here and applied site-wide; spot-checks are part of the build QA.
