Arsenal
Every tool has a job, and every job is quiet. The loadout of a military ninja.
Design philosophy
Her arsenal follows one rule: if it makes noise, it stays home. Every item is selected, modified, or custom-built for silent night operation. Matte-black finishes, suppressed everything, soft-close fasteners, rubberized contact points. Her gear doesn’t clink, rattle, or reflect — and neither does she.
The blade
Katana — “Vesper’s Edge.” Her primary close tool, carried sheathed across her back. It’s a modern build on a classical pattern: monosteel edge, matte-black saya, tsuka wrapped for wet grip. She draws it rarely and cleans it always. Squad rule: nobody touches the katana. Nobody.
In her fictional world the blade is a tool of last resort and precision — used for cutting restraints, disabling equipment, and only in extremis against people. The Code of Shadows governs its use.
Thrown and placed tools
- Shuriken (8-point, suppressed steel). Used for distraction, disabling lights and cameras, and pinning fabric — not for throwing at people. She can kill a floodlight at forty meters without being heard.
- Smoke pellets. Instant concealment, gone in ninety seconds. Her favorite exit strategy.
- Flash capsules. Non-lethal disorientation for close encounters. Used sparingly — light is noise.
- Grapnel line. Pneumatic launcher, whisper-quiet, rated for rooftop spans. Her vertical entry method of choice.
Senses and comms
- Night-vision goggles. Dual-tube, infrared-capable, riding her forehead when not in use. The green glow is her signature in the dark — the last thing a sensor sees before she bypasses it.
- Comms unit. Bone-conduction earpiece, throat mic. Specter Cell runs silent check-ins on a rotating burst schedule.
- Tactical visor. Ballistic, anti-fog, with a red-tinted slit that cuts glare from muzzle flashes and floodlights.
Support kit
- Med-kit. Compact trauma kit — and she carries a second, civilian-marked pouch. Tenet one of the Code: the civilian comes first, including medically.
- Breach tools. Lock bypass set, glass cutter, hinge shims. She prefers doors that open to doors that break.
- Signal kit. Passive scanner for cameras, tripwires, and wireless sensors. She maps the electronic terrain before she touches the physical one.
What she doesn’t carry
No explosives. No unsuppressed firearms. Nothing that can’t be explained away or carried out. Her arsenal is built around a single fictional truth: the mission that needs a firefight has already failed.
