How they fly
Skyships ride the Great Currents the way ocean ships ride trade winds. Silver-treated sails catch more than air — they catch the shape of a current, and a good wind-reader (like Leyra) can feel a current shift minutes before the sails do. Keels are weighted with storm-iron; hulls are light island-pine. Nobody fully understands why the islands float, so nobody questions why the ships do.
The Pale Wisp
A swift courier skyship, master Captain Bram Tallowheel. Small, fast, and famously lucky — or famously well-read, since Leyra joined the crew. Known in every harbor between Cloudharbor and Galeport, mostly for arriving exactly when the weather says nothing should arrive.
