The World: Static City
Static City
A fictional city where it rains most nights, the neon never fully sleeps, and someone is always awake to hear it.
Static City isn't on any map — it's the fan-lore setting built around Lana's card line. Think: mid-size city, coastal-ish, perpetually between midnight and dawn. The rain is a character. The static between radio stations is a weather system.
The rules of the city (fan lore)
- Night is the real day. The city runs two shifts; Lana's people are the second one.
- Every feeling has a frequency. Lana files hers on cassettes labeled by mood, not date.
- Neon is a love language. Pink for hope, teal for calm — the city's signs spell out how everyone feels.
- Nobody sleeps alone in the static. The whole point of the show: if you're awake at 3am, someone else is too.
Key places
- Rooftop 9 — Lana's broadcast studio, above an old record shop. Antenna, milk crates of vinyl, one very patient cat.
- Milo's All-Night Diner — the 3am headquarters. Bottomless coffee, the corner booth, the jukebox stuck on side B.
- The 5th & Vale bus stop — where half her best stories start. Rainy, glowing, always one bus late.
- Pixel Palace arcade — neon, sticky floors, the racing game Lana never loses.
- The laundromat on Vale — warm dryers, borrowed magazines, Rin's philosophy corner.
- Lana's loft — the cassette wall: hundreds of tapes, every feeling filed. Nobody's allowed to reorganize it.
Two places get full deep dives: The Station (KJLT 94.3) and The Neighborhood (a street-by-street walk).
The weather
Rain, mostly. The fan lore says the static in the air makes the rain fall softer — or maybe Lana just likes it that way. Either way: bring a windbreaker.
