Twelve quotations you can trust — every one traceable to a published appearance. Slogans are cited by usage; interview quotes carry venue and date.
1. The closing cry
“¡Viva la libertad, carajo!”
Source: Closing line of Milei’s victory speech, 19 November 2023, and of nearly every major rally address since — his signature sign-off, usually translated “Long live freedom, dammit!”
2. No money
“No hay plata.”
Source: Inaugural address, Plaza Congreso, Buenos Aires, 10 December 2023 — the two-word summary of the fiscal situation as he presented it, repeated throughout his first months in office.
3. The caste is afraid
“La casta tiene miedo.”
Source: Campaign rally chant and slogan, 2023 — “the caste is afraid,” aimed at the political class he pledged to displace.
4. Out
“¡Afuera!”
Source: Campaign-trail refrain, 2023 — shouted while crossing ministries off a whiteboard in the viral “afuera” videos: “Out!” (i.e., abolished).
5. The lion’s song
“Soy el león / rugió la bestia en medio de la avenida / la casta es de mi apetito.”
Source: Panic Show by La Renga, adopted as Milei’s entrance music at rallies from 2021 onward — “I am the lion / the beast roared in the middle of the avenue / the caste is my appetite.” (Quoted as the rally anthem; the lyrics are the band’s.)
6. Philosophically an anarcho-capitalist
“Soy anarcocapitalista en lo filosófico, pero minarquista en la práctica.”
Source: Repeated in interviews through 2023 (e.g., televised interviews during the campaign) — “philosophically I’m an anarcho-capitalist, but in practice a minarchist.” His standard self-description.
7. Davos: the West in danger
“The main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism… Do not be intimidated by the political caste or by parasites who live off the state.”

8. Whoever does it, pays
“El que las hace, las paga.”
Source: Government security slogan from December 2023, repeated by Milei and Security Minister Patricia Bullrich — “whoever commits the crime, pays for it,” the motto of the administration’s hard-line security policy.
9. Chainsaw economics
“No venimos a poner paños fríos, venimos a poner la motosierra.”
Source: Campaign and early-presidency refrain, 2023–2024 — “We didn’t come to apply cold compresses; we came to bring the chainsaw.” His metaphor for the speed and depth of spending cuts.
10. On the central bank
“El Banco Central es una máquina de generar pobreza… hay que dinamitarlo.”
Source: Repeated in television interviews and campaign events, 2021–2023 — “The central bank is a poverty-generating machine… it must be dynamited.” His signature monetary proposal, later deferred in office (see Dollarization).
11. The cultural battle
“La batalla cultural es la madre de todas las batallas.”
Source: Repeated in speeches 2023–2025 — “The cultural battle is the mother of all battles.” His framing of politics as a fight over ideas in universities, media, and international bodies.
12. After the midterms
“Hoy se ha dado un punto de inflexión… vamos a hacer a la Argentina grande otra vez.”
Source: Victory speech after the 26 October 2025 midterm elections — “Today marks a turning point… we are going to make Argentina great again,” echoing his U.S. ally’s slogan.
