Expedition journals
Three expeditions, told the way field journals are: dated, observant, and occasionally wrong.
These are the complete trail journals kept by the fictional persona of girl adventurer. They are original adventure writing for this site — the places don’t exist, the events didn’t happen, and that’s the point. Read them as stories.
The three expeditions
1. The Valley of Echoes
A canyon that repeats your words back to you — and the morning it repeated something she never said. Five days, one canyon, and a lesson about listening. Journal length: 5 entries.
2. The Sky Islands
A chain of floating islands reached by balloon, and the map that turned out to be upside down the whole time. Six days above the clouds. Journal length: 6 entries.
3. The Lantern Deep
A crystal cavern expedition where the lights went out and stayed out. Four days underground, navigating by sound, memory, and one very patient glow-moth. Journal length: 4 entries.
How the journals are written
Each entry is dated from the expedition’s own calendar, kept short like real field notes, and left unedited where the writer was wrong — because a journal that corrects itself is a different document than a journal that was right all along. Footnotes in square brackets are the “editor” (this site) flagging where the trail taught her something.
Source notes
All three expeditions, their locations, events, and the dated entries within them are original fiction written for this site. The atlas maps the same fictional locales in the same invented geography.
