Glossary
The language of the Crimson Court — terms, titles, and places, defined.
Framing: this glossary defines terms from the editor-written fictional lore of the felipe persona. Not history, not owner canon.
The Bronze Gallery
The palace corridor where deals are walked out. “A Gallery conversation” means a negotiation conducted entirely through implication.
Corvane
Great house of coin — bankers newly ennobled, fluent in access and contracts. Colors: bronze and black.
The Council at Noon
The daily council session of the great houses. Where felipe asks the questions nobody asks.
The Disguised Walk
felipe’s habit of slipping out of the citadel in plain clothes to see the empire as it is. The signature move of the persona’s lore.
The Ember Crown
The coronation crown, worn once per reign and locked away otherwise. Heavy by design.
The Ember Throne
The dark-bronze throne of the Crimson Empire, seat of three centuries of rulers.
Evening Rite
The candlelit closing ceremony of the throne room each night. felipe calls it “tucking the empire into bed.”
Fenwick
The scribal lesser line that runs the imperial bureaucracy — and the sealed archives.
The Grain Compact
The throne’s famine-year guarantee to the provinces; the foundation of imperial loyalty.
Halbrecht
Great house of the sword — the Northern Marches’ military line, currently underemployed. Colors: iron grey and crimson.
The Kitchens’ Door
The unwatched palace entrance. felipe’s preferred exit.
The Lower City
The markets, workshops, and tenements below the citadel — where the empire actually lives.
The Map Room
The palace’s collection of provincial surveys and the great bronze map table. felipe practically lives there.
Morning Audience
The daily admission of petitioners, in order of precedence rather than need.
The Night Market
The lower city’s after-dark bazaar — lanterns, street food, and the prince’s favorite classroom.
The Petitioner’s Bell
The bronze bell at the palace gate any citizen may ring; tradition requires the throne to hear the ringer within three days.
Ritualists
The court faction — mostly Veyne — holding that the empire is its ceremony.
The Scribes’ Stair
The palace staircase where news travels faster than any courier.
Sealed Archives
Three floors beneath the palace holding every unpublished version of imperial history.
Veyne
The oldest great house, keepers of ritual and tradition. Colors: crimson and silver.
