The words of the garden — Crispin's vocabulary, translated for the tall. Fictional glossary.
| Term | Meaning |

| Acorn Army | Crispin's beetle brigade; drilled loosely, paraded chaotically. See The Acorn Army. |
| Berry-bomb | A raspberry, deployed as (a) snack, (b) cushion, (c) diplomatic gift. Often all three. |
| Bramblewick Garden | The whole enormous little world. See Bramblewick Garden. |
| Crumbdash | The full-speed sprint toward an unattended crumb. A sacred maneuver. |
| Dewdrop-diving | Sliding into a dewdrop on purpose. Distinct from falling in, which is an accident (usually). |
| Firefly choir | The meadow's musicians; Crispin conducts on harvest nights. See Night of the Fireflies. |
| The Hollow Oak | Crispin's home inside the old oak. See The Hollow Oak. |
| Leaf-surfing | Riding a falling leaf. Style points for landings. |
| Moss-mattress | The softest thing in the garden; standard issue for naps. |
| Pebble-heart | A heart-shaped pebble, given to whoever looks sad. Crispin's love language. |
| Petal-nap | A nap on a flower petal. Duration: until the sun moves. |
| Strawberria | The sovereign nation of the strawberry patch, declared by Crispin. The strawberries have not objected. |
| Teacup Mountains | The garden table's teacup; base camp of the Great Cookie Caper. |
| Twig-bridge | Any twig placed across any gap, with confidence. |
