Glossary
The language of Stitchwick, defined.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| stitch creature | A fictional being sewn from fabric scraps, like violet stich. Fan term for this reference pack. |
| long stitch | violet's signature: one confident line of thread that holds more than it should. |
| invisible mend | A repair so neat it disappears. Old Needle's specialty; violet is still practicing. |
| pincushion | In Stitchwick, also a flower: tomato-red cushions that bloom in violet's garden, with silver pins for stamens. |
| Night Moths | violet's assistants, who hold thread ends while she sews. Paid in lamplight. |
| Midnight Fitting | A midnight repair session for creatures too worried to sleep. Free, quiet, confidential. |
| eleven shades | violet's complete collection of violet thread — one for every mood of the evening sky. |
| Thimble | The loft's fabric cat and supervisor of all fittings. Takes his job very seriously. |
| dusk-violet | The fabric violet stich is sewn from; the color of the sky just after sunset. |
| hem | The finished edge of fabric — and, in violet's philosophy, what the evening does to the day. |
