Robot Anatomy
What's inside a bot? Gears, mostly. And feelings. Let's take a playful look.
Playful, not technical: This is a fan-written joke-anatomy of fictional cartoon robots, not engineering. Do not attempt to disassemble your friends.
The standard bot blueprint
The optic array (eyes)
One to two glowing eyes, more expressive than they have any right to be. Cora’s single big lens eye can zoom; Aegis’s visor dims with mood.
The antenna / periscope
Receives radio, weather, gossip, and — in Patch’s case — brilliant ideas at 3 a.m. Cora’s periscope version doubles as a second viewpoint for peeking over hills.
The voice box
Produces beeps, hums, and full sentences. Rivet’s is tuned to “warm rumble”; the Dynamo Choir’s are tuned to the Dynamo itself.
The gear heart
The emotional core. Spins faster when a bot is excited, skips a tooth when surprised, and — per the lore — is what the First Spark set turning. See World Lore.
The battery belly
Stores charge from the Dynamo taps. A full belly glows softly through the chest plate; an empty one is why bots get cranky before lunch.
The springy legs (or treads, or hover-pods)
Locomotion varies by model — see the Model Lineup. All of them can dance. This is scientifically unproven but universally observed.
Model-specific quirks
- Patch: extra tool ports behind the left ear; a patchwork of donor plates, each with a story.
- Rivet: reinforced shoulders, heat-shielded forearms, and a torch holster polished to a mirror shine.
- Aegis: a scanner-lantern socket at the collar; visor glass rated for storms.
- Cora: a map case that is somehow bigger on the inside; the forty-foot map lives there.
